Privacy policy
What we collect, why we collect it, and how to make us stop.
Who we are
BarnacleBeGone LLC is an in-water boat hull cleaning and dock maintenance business operating in Tampa Bay, Florida. In this policy, "we", "us" and "our" mean BarnacleBeGone LLC, and "you" means anyone who uses this website or contacts us.
You can reach us any time at BarnacleBeGone@Gmail.com or (727) 922-4308.
What we collect
We only collect what we need to quote your job, schedule it, do the work, and get paid.
Information you give us
- Your name, phone number and email address
- Your billing address, when you become a client
- Details about your vessel: name, make and model, length, motor type, thruster and swim platform configuration
- Where the boat is kept, including marina, slip number and any access or gate codes you choose to share
- How you heard about us, and the name of the person who referred you if one applies
- Anything else you type into a form or send us by email or text
Information collected automatically
- Standard web log data: IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, and the page that sent you here
- Analytics data through Google Analytics 4, which uses cookies to recognize a returning browser
Photographs
We take before and after photographs of the work as a record of what was done. These may show your vessel, your dock, and the surrounding water.
How we use it
- To answer your enquiry and prepare an estimate
- To schedule and carry out the services you book
- To contact you about scheduling, weather delays, findings on your boat, and your account
- To take payment and keep business records
- To credit a referral to the person who sent you, if you name one
- To understand which pages and search terms bring people to the site so we can improve it
We do not use your information to build advertising profiles, and we do not use automated decision-making or profiling to decide whether to serve you.
Calls and text messages
This section matters, so it is written plainly.
Service messages
When you ask us for an estimate or book work, you are asking us to get back to you. We will call, text or email you about that request, your appointment, weather changes, and the work itself. These are service messages, not marketing.
Marketing messages
We will only send you promotional calls or texts, such as seasonal offers or reminders that it has been a while since your last clean, if you have given us prior express written consent to do so. Consent to marketing is never a condition of buying anything from us.
Stopping messages
Reply STOP to any text and we will stop. You can also tell us to stop by calling, emailing, or telling Kyle in person. We honor opt-out requests made by any reasonable means, and we act on them promptly rather than waiting out any grace period the law allows.
Reply HELP to any text for help. Message and data rates may apply, and message frequency varies. Opting out of marketing messages does not stop the service messages you need to keep an appointment, unless you ask us to stop those as well.
We do not send telephone solicitations outside 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at your local time, and we do not sell or rent your phone number to anyone.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that never became jobs: up to two years, then deleted.
- Client and job records: kept while you are a client and afterwards for as long as we need them for tax, accounting and insurance purposes, which in Florida generally means several years.
- Consent and opt-out records: kept as long as we need them to prove we handled your preferences correctly.
- Analytics data: retained on Google's standard schedule.
How we protect it
We keep your information on password-protected accounts and devices, and we limit access to Kyle and anyone directly helping run the business. No system is perfectly secure, and we will not pretend otherwise.
Florida's Information Protection Act (section 501.171, Florida Statutes) applies to us regardless of our size. If a breach affected your personal information, we would notify you and the relevant authorities as that law requires.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to:
- Tell you what information we hold about you
- Correct anything that is wrong
- Delete your information, where we are not required to keep it
- Stop contacting you, by any or all channels
- Not use a photograph of your vessel in our marketing
A note on the Florida Digital Bill of Rights. That law only applies to companies with more than one billion dollars in global revenue, so it does not apply to a business like ours, and we are not going to claim otherwise. We honor the requests above anyway, as a matter of practice rather than obligation.
Email BarnacleBeGone@Gmail.com or call (727) 922-4308 and we will handle it. We may need to confirm who you are before we act on a request about someone's records.
Photographs of your vessel
We may use before and after photographs of work we have done on our website, our Google Business Profile, and our social media. We do not publish your name, your vessel's registration or documentation numbers, your slip number, or your address alongside those photos.
If you would rather we did not photograph your boat at all, or you want a photo taken down, tell us and we will take care of it. There is no cost and no argument.
Children
This site is meant for adults arranging work on a vessel. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Links to other sites
This site links to places like our Facebook page and our Google Business Profile. Once you follow one of those links you are on someone else's site, under their privacy policy, not ours.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of the page. If a change materially affects how we handle your information, we will make that clear rather than burying it.
