Terms of service
What you can expect from us, and what we need from you.
Agreement to these terms
These terms cover the services provided by BarnacleBeGone LLC ("we", "us", "our") and your use of this website. By booking work, accepting an estimate, or using this site, you agree to them.
If you are booking on behalf of a vessel you do not own, you confirm that you have the owner's permission to authorize the work.
What we do and do not do
We provide in-water hull cleaning, cavitation cleaning, running gear and thruster cleaning, dock and piling cleaning, and piling wrapping, on vessels and structures in and around Tampa Bay.
A cleaning is not a survey. We remove marine growth. We are not marine surveyors, mechanics, or paint specialists, and a cleaning is not an inspection of your vessel's condition. If we notice something that looks wrong, we will tell you, but the absence of a comment from us is not a statement that your vessel is sound.
Estimates and pricing
Estimates are based on what you tell us about the vessel: its length, its configuration, where it is kept, and how long it has been since the last cleaning.
- If the actual size, condition, or amount of growth is materially different from what was described, the price may change.
- We will talk to you before carrying out work that goes beyond the estimate.
- Estimates are valid for the period stated on the estimate, and prices are subject to change after that.
- Heavy growth from a long lapse between cleanings takes longer and may be quoted separately from a regular maintenance clean.
Scheduling, access and weather
Access
You are responsible for making sure we can get to the vessel or structure, including marina access, gate codes, slip information, and permission from the marina or dock owner where that is needed. If we arrive and cannot access the work, a trip charge may apply as stated in your estimate or plan agreement.
Weather and conditions
Diving depends on conditions. We may delay or reschedule for lightning, storms, strong current, poor visibility, water quality, or anything else that makes the dive unsafe. We will let you know as early as we can. Safety decisions on the day are ours to make and are not grounds for a refund of work not yet performed.
Cancelling or rescheduling
Tell us as far ahead as you can if you need to move an appointment. Notice requirements and any associated charge are set out in your estimate or plan agreement.
Recurring maintenance plans
- Monthly and bi-weekly plans continue on their cycle until you pause or cancel them.
- You can pause or cancel by telling us in writing, by email or text. We will confirm it.
- Plan pricing assumes the vessel stays on its cycle. If cleanings are skipped and growth builds up, the next visit may be priced as a heavy-growth clean rather than a plan clean.
- Plan pricing is tied to the vessel described when the plan started. Changing vessels means a new estimate.
Condition of the vessel and equipment
Marine growth hides things. Removing it sometimes reveals damage, wear, or failing hardware that was already there and already failing.
- We are not responsible for pre-existing damage, worn or failing bottom paint, blistering, corrosion, loose or corroded hardware, failing seals, or defective equipment.
- Soft, ablative, or already-failing bottom paint will shed during any cleaning. That is the nature of the coating, not a defect in the work.
- Sacrificial anodes wear by design and may be further reduced during cleaning.
- You are responsible for telling us in advance about anything fragile, non-standard, recently painted, or otherwise in need of special handling, including transducers, sensors, and recently applied coatings.
Payment
- Payment is due at the time of service or on the terms set out in your plan.
- We accept the payment methods listed on your invoice.
- Accounts that go unpaid may be suspended, and further scheduled work paused, until the balance is settled.
- You are responsible for any costs we reasonably incur collecting an unpaid balance.
Referral program
Our referral program is offered on the following terms, which form part of these Terms of Service. Full details are on the referral program page.
Rewards
- 1 referral: 10% off
- 2 referrals: 20% off
- 3 referrals: 25% off
- 4 referrals: 30% off
- 5 referrals: 35% off
- 6 referrals: 40% off
- 7 referrals: 50% off
- 8 referrals: one free clean, subject to the exclusions below
How rewards apply
- A referral is credited once the person you referred has booked and paid for a service, and has named you as the person who referred them.
- Each referral discount is applied separately, to a different month or to a separate service. Discounts are not stacked onto a single invoice.
- A maximum of eight referral rewards may be earned in a calendar year.
- The program resets on January 1 each year. Referrals beyond eight in a calendar year do not roll over into the next year.
- Rewards have no cash value and cannot be exchanged for cash or credit.
Exclusions
- Referral rewards do not apply to search and recovery operations, salvage operations, piling wrapping, or dock and piling cleanings.
- Rewards are limited to in-water vessel work only.
- The free clean is based on a vessel of comparable size to the work you normally have performed.
We may change or end the referral program at any time, without warning or notice. Rewards already earned and confirmed before a change will be honored.
Photographs
We photograph work before and after as a record and for marketing. We do not publish your name, your vessel's registration or documentation numbers, your slip number, or your address alongside those photographs. If you would prefer we did not photograph your vessel, or you want an image removed, tell us and we will take care of it. See our Privacy Policy for more.
Limitation of liability
We carry insurance and we work carefully. That said, and to the fullest extent permitted by Florida law:
- Our total liability for any claim arising out of a service is limited to the amount you paid for that service.
- We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential losses, including lost use of the vessel, lost charter income, haul-out costs, or towing.
- Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Claims about work performed must be raised with us promptly, and in any event within a reasonable time of the service, so that we have a fair chance to look at the vessel and put things right.
